I believe there is no one more beautiful, deeper and more perfect than Jesus. I tell myself that not only there is, but there can be no one like him. Even those people who reject and criticize Christianity still follow the Christian ideal deep down, because neither the cold mind nor the ardent heart of a person can generate a higher ideal of virtue than the one that Christ commanded us. My faith in Christ is by no means childish. My hosanna was born in the cleansing flame of doubt.

Christianity is not a new ethics, but a new life. The new life that brings a person into direct contact with God is a new union, the New Testament.

I believe in God as a Person and I can honestly say that I was not an atheist for a single minute of my life … The radiant experience of Jesus of Nazareth made an amazing impression on me. In Him, God revealed himself to us in the clearest and most understandable way. I honor him.

When we think of Christ, it’s marvelous to think that in the history of our world, of our land, there was a thirty-three year period, when one person was perfect, the unsullied purity of thought, feeling, and flesh lived as a testimony of what a person can be, how holy and beautiful he can be — so that it can contain, as the Holy Scriptures say, the entire fullness of the Divine bodily (Col. 2.9). And our calling is not only to be Christ, but so to be related to Him, so to be one with Him, so that every person meeting us would meet Christ.
